The Motown Diva, Martha Reeves hit Brighton on Monday, August 18th as part of the Concorde2's 21st birthday celebrations.
Sadly, there aren't too many of the original Motown Legends remaining but Martha and her two sisters, Delphine and Lois, are still very much in top form as they wowed a sellout Concorde2 crowd.
Originally just Motown staff members providing backing vocals, Martha and her mates were given their heads and scored with a number of storming hits characterised by Martha's breathless but powerful lead vocals backed by the frenetic support of The Funk Brothers.
This was truly one of those shows to tell your grandchildren about! The girls breezed through all their big hits but left out some of the lesser successes like 'No One There' which is so acclaimed in this country particularly amongs the Northern Soul bretheren. Martha did get to sing it though for when DJ Clive Rayson put it on after the show, Martha gave an impromptu rendering whilst signing autographs. A quite magical moment.
