Welcome....

....to the Soul Survivors website.

Thanks first to all who contributed to our Chestnut Tree Hospice appeal. We had a fantastic response which was well appreciated.

We're all pretty shattered after the first COTG in Kettering on August 16th. With around 660 showing I guess it's something to build on and we'll be back there on October 4th. Before that we'll be bring a whole lotta Soul to 'Steel City' Corby on Sep 19th. Tickets for that are flying - and that's not hype!

On August 30th we had our 2nd Brighton Beach Northern Soul All-Nighter with the mercurial Ginger Taylor. Blinding night and thanks to those in particular who travelled so far. Gonna take a week to get over this one.

The Directory is growing all the time so check it out for special deals on a range of goods and services.....and be real cool and check us out on Facebook and add your name there.

Keep The Faith now

Steve - I found a camera in behind the decks when we were finishing off. May not be the same one as I don't think it was "slim", but I handed it to Paddy or Clive (Clive I think).

Big thanks to everyone, especially those who kept it going right 'till the end.

  33. The news of DJ's passing is terribly sad. He was an immense and inspiring character in every way. Deepest sympathies to Tracey and the boys and all the family.

  35. Please convey deepest sympathies to DJ's wife Tracey and all his extended family. Good of you to mention it on here.

  36. hi all

whos the good looking fella in picture on the wall

  37. Well done Kathy, Debbie and the girls for raising over £640 with the raffle for Chestnut Tree Hospice last night. Brilliant effort and they loooked pretty good too! Winning numbers will be up here soon.

  38. Yoh ho......last Friday of the month again and time for larging it at Coral's! We love it.

  39. Or even 'Bring The Boys Home'.

  40. Dave P,

I bet James is glad you replaced Governor Wallace’s picture with mine, at least he’ll be able to sleep easy in his Alabama Motel tonight.

On the Freda front, what about an airing of the B side “Easiest way to fall” a real handbag bedroom special.

  41. I just work on the maxim of pleasing most of the people most of the time, rather than some of them some of the time.

Freda was a genuine request and why not? I often have to bite my lip at some of the things I put up in answer to requests - they usually come down fairly speedily though. The Degrees were put up in a rush and will be down as soon as I get something appropriate....but it's not that easy. That Sam Cooke one was really quite sublime. I hadn't seen it before and it came up very well - and of course it was taken some 46 years ago!

  42. Sheila Fegusson's bust has become a Daily Mrror Legend! are you sure Paddy? After that sublime Sam Cooke photo, a Three Degrees silhouette is a bit of a crash landing, and Band of Gold's crept in, did you wake up with a hangover, what happenned to Sam and Dave? I saw 'em having lunch. Sorry if it's a bit cryptic, but he'll know what I mean.

  43. to all kettering and corby soul survivors.tickets are selling fast for the night of the 16th at wickies.don't be disappointed

  70. Fab night Friday at Corals. First time there for me and my mates. Great work, you guys on the turntables. Wonderful music and a brilliant atmosphere. Any chance of a bit bigger dancefloor?

  71. Oh, that must have been me Samantha! We aim to please!

  72. Had to look at the website first time tonight, down visiting friends will deffo be back next time I'm down.

Had a really fab night, thank you to the big DJ who played 2 records I asked for Luv Ya Ta x

  73. Just got back in and must say it weren't arf good. That funny little gnome bloke is quite good djing. We couldn't find any blokes there who were game enough but maybe we did look a bit scarey. Anyway we do need another portion (!) and we'll give you lot another whirl next month. This time we'll be more refined!

  74. Look out Brighton - the Essex girls are coming tonight. You should notice us as we're coming down in 4 pink limos and of course we''re all in white high heels! Can you handle it big boys?

  75. Any chance of getting playlists up here - I hate it when I hear something I don't know?

  76. Paul,

I can guarantee, if I played it you'd be in the other room! I came close last time out with "Collins & Collins - Top of the stairs" but that was a whole decade later.

Maybe next time, C U there,

    Dave.

Paddy how come, I can't hit more than one button on that decade poll. I'll just have to go with the Catherine Tate.

  77. Dave P

When are you going to play At the top of the stairs by the Formations,or did I miss it?

  78. Hey steady on boys, I'm not the oracle nor infallible! Thanks for the info though Richard, I'm sure that's right.

As for the Dusty thing I was just looking for a bit of interaction. If people are shy about commenting, they might press a button. Any suggestions for polls more than welcome.

  79. Richard,

yep I agree with you that's definately not TP on "Get out", but what do I know? I thought that Dusty was a pop singer!

    Pat,

I see the personal crusade has taken on new heights.

  80. Hi Folks, a great collection of sounds on the jukebox !! includes a big fav of mine - H Melvin... 'Get Out' - just wanted to check something, I was told that the vocals on this were by John Atkins (in 1965) with Teddy Prendergast being on drums and only becoming lead vocal around 1970. Keep up the good work , love the site and will be down again soon.

  81. Hello Clive Darling, are you heading north this weekend?

  82. Rosko? What a throwback - quite fascinating to see him after all these years, though Jeff Back wasn't a very wise choice on his part. Still got it though.....more or less!

  83. Mr.M.Hunt, that's a bit below the belt, leave the mass debate to the correct forum

  84. Love the Dusty debate. So far defenders include Patta Labelle, Aretha, Martha Reeves, Stevie Wonder, Jerry Wexler, Dionne Warwick. Who is on the other side? Who can there be?

  85. Freewheelers reunion was truly a nite to remember, well done Pat and Clive, you should be proud of organising such a wonderful nite and raising an amazing amount of money for such a worthwhile cause. I am heartbroken that I am on hols and will miss the August do!! Love to everyone xxx
