... to the Soul Survivors website
Hi everyone...so now we have a Royal Wedding to look forward to. I guess it's better than the rest of the glum new of recent times, so we'll look forward to a real good jolly and of course we'll be doing something to mark the occasion.
Christmas is almost upon us of course and we're preparing for a couple of belting nights over the Festive period. It's unfortunate that The Greyhound Stadium will not now be available for our Christmas event, though the New Year's Eve Party will be going ahead there again this year.
It's Hove Rugby Club for the Christmas Bash though and tickets are now on sale for both nights.
Look out for a brand new regular session in 2011...details very, very soon
Keep On Keeping On out there.

Is it really true that Clive has got married?
It was hard hearing about Robbie Williams but I haven't felt this bad since David Cassidy gave his heart to another.
What am I to do? Settle for Paddy?
Any LeRoy Hutson fans out there are in for a treat check out vintageatgoodwood.com he will be appearing on Sunday 15th August and also 19th August at IndigoO2 "Giants Of Rare Groove" can't wait for this.

'Self-Appointed' Motown expert has Part 1 of a Motown Appreciation feature in the latest edition of the Record Collector magazine. Packed with information and illustrations of rare UK Motown releases. Well worth checking out!!
No doubt George Benson will put on a decent show....but at £45 a ticket, it had better be.
Think I'll give it a swerve but Marlena Shaw and Candi Staon at Concorde 2 are a MUST as will be The James Taylor Quartet @ Komedia on March 13th
GEORGE BENSON on at The Brighton Centre 3rd June 2010, not to be missed! Tickets now on sale

WHAT TERRIBLE NEWS TODAY ANOTHER SOUL LEGEND HAS PASSED AWAY AT ONLY 59 YEARS OF AGE.. R.I.P TEDDY
Totally agree with that Jim.
I've posted up a few of his tracks and a couple of vids over at The Soul Survivors Family site. Makes one realise how huge his contribution was on both sides of the Atlantic - yet he remains a largely unsung hero.
R.I.P. Willie Mitchel---- passed away today. Radio 2 played THAT DRIVING BEAT in his honour but sadly there was no mention of his NS fans who celebrate his achievement at every gig--when is it not played.
Would love to see Paul Clarke doing a guest D.J spot at The Greyhound, great venue, supportive crowd, just needs some refreshing funky grooves in the other room.
Totally agree with that Peter - it was a karaoke version of Motown and they managed it without a mention of Smokey either.
3 Lionel Ritchie tunes was really tedious and you're right there was a huge amount of non Motown stuff. The girls weren't too bad though.
Very disappointed with The Magic of Motown at the Theatre last night ! Levi Stubbs never wore a skull cap . At least 2 of the acts were never on the record label ! The jackson 5 looked like the black and white minstrels and i never did like Lionel Ritchie ! The only good thing was The Temptations . There its off my chest i had to say it
Hey There Mr Shevlin

Loved The Papillon Night you did - will be down for next one on Oct 23rd and hope to sample some of these other sessions as well!
Get On The Good Foot! seems a very good idea and I wish you every success with it.
In fact your sessions are the one thing keeping me going - so from now on I'll send YOU my council tax!
Much appreciated Adam. It's hard to strike a balance, but it did draw a nice response. Some of those comments were quite poignant.
Loved your Jacko tributes (on the Family site) and the comments it attracted from your site visitors. Nicely done and not over the top. Well done.
Michael Jackson inspirational wonder to the world, but what are we left with ..

just wanted to add I thought Jerry was fantastic friday, players association wow.
I know its a bit out of the way and not as nice as corals, but the atmosphere was brilliant, a definate buzz in the air.
Hi John,
Don't know if I would like it there every week but it was a real nice change. Really great atmosphere and the music seemed much better - thought all the DJs were really good on Friday. Hope you do some more there.
Hope everyone enjoyed it last night at Babylon,
Soon be payday and Check Out The Groove! Love it!
Yo to Clive and Paddy. Great to meet you both at The Concorde2 last night - hope you'll be putting on something there again soon.
Will hopefully get along to Coral's on Friday. Keep on doing what you're doing, you do it THE BEST!
Just want to say I wish you guys were on every week, what's stopping you? You've changed my Life. All the DJs are just brill in IMHO but there's one special one...sigh! He's got such twinkly 'come to bed' eyes, and a cute little potbelly that would make a lovely pillow. Y'know what I'm talking about girls.
Congratulations to Sue on hitting another birthday with a zero!! Wonder what that can be?? There are gonna be about 90 of us coming along to cheer her on Friday the 13th. How lucky can she be??
anyone here been to son bou in Menorca, there are two clubs in son bou club saint jaome and also copacabana, both put on live cabaret acts for free every night of the week which range from il divo tribute bands through to freddi mercury celine dion and pavarotti tributes on one stage, what i loved about the place were four tribute bands the four tops the temps the drifters and also george benson all were excellent, especially the temptations, I am sure the lead singer Nathan is related to Otis LOL !!!! the sound they acheive is stunning, if you are looking for somewhere to go this summer go to son bou find the copacabana with miguel jaime and eiser, to wait on you sit back and just be amazed, the weather is good to, oh yes in the second and third week in sept at the copacabana there is a an english dj (me) playing all soul motown and disco....
ps and winding jerry up of course...lol !
look fwd to it, i will be there friday taking in all the music,
Flattery will get you everywhere John! You were sound and we'll have you back asap!
just wanted to say I did a set on january 30th at corals, must admit i was nervous, but i loved it, the atmosphere and the people were great, enjoyed every minute, and Paddy,s set was awesome, makes a change to hear just great soul sounds all night as normaly I have to play the run of the mill rubbish that passes as music nowadays,
The Horam One (or two if my sis comes with me) will be joining the Tunbridge Wells Posse for Di's birthday celebrations on Friday 13th! Keep The Faith! XXXXXX
The TWP are heading for COTG on Friday 13th for Di Rozier's Birthday - we aim to give you all our TLC.

Audley, you were the business! Every success in your career - pleasure to see your performance last night.
Our first visit to Check Out The Groove! last night. Had been hearing rave reports but didn't expect it to be THAT good! Expected to just hear standard disco and Motown but the quality was unbelievable especially in the back room.
Hey everyone, if you were at Check Out The Groove gig last night, hope you enjoyed it as much as i did... I just wanted to thank you for being such a vibrant and responsive crowd!!!
Blessings
AA

another great night at corals, good eclectic mix of music and great crowd.happy new year to you all
Hi Richard, Nice to hear you had a good night, Think it's a case of "slowly slowly catchy monkey" bringing new sounds to thier ears, It seems to be working and keeping the dancefloors full, Have a good Xmas, and thanks for your continued support.
Clive
Another cracking nite on friday - thanks guys - and good to see some more cash raised for a good cause ! is it my imagination or is the crowd now more accepting of the less commercial sounds with the dancefloors remaining full ?
Thanks for a FABIDELICIOUS night,Music was fantastic danced all night and feet are throbbing.
Dear Lee,
Many thanks for your best wishes and the thoughts of all of us at SS are with you and your family. Good Luck to ye all.

What a lovely Christmas song you have on here!
Reggae & Soul 4 Joel was excellent....please do another one!
Hi Richard,
Always a pleasure, and appreciate your hike down from Reading
Hi Guys,
Friday was the first time I have been down for a while so many thanks for another great nite and for playing some cracking tunes for me !
We had a fantastic night on Friday, had a cab booked for 12.30 but was having such a good time. cancelled it till 1.30, the music was brilliant, loved the Reggae bit.
Really looking forward to the Reggae and Soul night next week - about time something like this happened in Brighton. I'm just so sorry about the circumstances.
Ronnie,
It's nice to know someone actually recognizes some of the tracks played, make yourself known next time and we can discuss what you'd like to hear, I'm sure I have some tunes in the boxes that would be new to most of the punters and that they would like (always open to suggestion).
Having played Dean Parrish's Tell Her, once last month and then again in my first set on friday. It was refreshing that one of our Brighton regulars had the confidence to openly come and request it again in my late set. It was a new sound to him that had obviously connected. As most of the punters from the Eastbourne/Tunbridge area that like Northern were on their way home, I didn't think it would upset anyone or dissapoint him if I recapped it. At least it wasn't one of the normal pop/soul tunes that I'm usually asked for.
There is a rumour of a meeting of DJ's to discuss the artistic content of the evening, and I'm sure that this sort of occurrence will be one of the issues.
Until the next time Ronnie,
The "little fella" (Dave)
Another brill night last Friday (14th). Can't believe some of the stuff I'm hearing in the bar area. Never thought I'd see the floor packed to Cliff Nobles and then Drizabone in this area to that sort of crowd. So much better than the pop pap you get whenever you usually go to so called Soul & Motown nights. Much appreciated. That little fella goes a bit heavy on Dean Parrish's 'Tell Her' though - how many times did he play it?
On behalf of the Rolf family we would like to thank you all, including friends for your support and sympathy, kind words and sentiments, on the day of Kim's funeral. With Kindest Regards L Rolf

Hi Lee - On behalf of King Jerry and all the gang at Soul Survivors, be assured we'll be doing our very best to make this night a huge success. Best wishes to you and all your family.
just want to say a BIG thanks to king jerry for everything he's done for me and laura and little man joel, the 5th should be a great night and i hope we can fill the venue,
big thanks again to the soul survivors x
Sincere condolences to the family of Joel, I'm sure Joel's Night will be a huge success.
Well done for featuring the great Levi.
thank you sorting out my girls for xmas party!
Hi Wendy, how are you?
Tickets for Christmas and New Year should be available in the next few days and as soon as they are details will be up here.
Both nights were near sellouts beforehand last year but membership has near doubled since then. So best to get them or make arrangements with one of us.
can someone please tell me ifwe have to have tickets for 19 dec?as we want to bring lots of women!
Big thanks to Clive and Paddy for getting those tracks onto Juice FM on Sunday afternoon, but why don't they just give you your own show?
Just listening to 'That Driving Beat' as I write this. Perfick.
Northern Soul from 7pm - 10pm Sundays on Arrow FM (Hastings) and Sovereign Radio (Eastbourne) featuring Kev Roberts (Goldsoul)
Charming, I bet you never forget your invoices!
I hope you're better at building than romancing.
'king brilliant night last night.
How many were there - must have been a thousand?
...and I pulled - we were both sober as well - and now that I've got a text from her, I guess it must be serious. Just wish I could remember her name - but lovely tattoos.
Love some of the jukebox tracks especially Doris Duke and Impressions 'I'm So Proud'. Really nice mix and nice to hear some of that Deep Soul that never gets played anywhere.
Norman Whitfield theme was very good too.
Yo ho - Precision Engineering Girls will be there on Friday. No loose screws with us - if ye know what I mean??
Lovely to see you lot in Corby last week - I never thought I'd get to see such a good night in this town.
You worked really hard on it, thanks for your efforts and see you at the next one.
Yes, Steve no problem but don't get there too late.
Hoping to get over to Corby tomorrow - it's ok to pay on the door is it?
Hi Paddy/Di,
Always a pleasure and glad to hear your party enjoyed it, Congrats to you both and may there be many more.
KTF
Clive
Thanks to you all for making our Ruby Wedding Anniversary party a cracker on Friday, all our friends said it was the best night for a while! + thanks for my time on the decks again - Paddy R
Just recovering from a brilliant night out at COTG in Hove. First time there and it was the best atmosphere and best music I've heard for years.
I'll be back.
Yes Mac - probably emphasis on Northern in the smaller room. Depends on the mix of course.
Have you got two rooms at Corby?
Thanks guys for letting me do my bit, both at the Arc and the 'niter. We had a great time!!!
Steve - I found a camera in behind the decks when we were finishing off. May not be the same one as I don't think it was "slim", but I handed it to Paddy or Clive (Clive I think).
Big thanks to everyone, especially those who kept it going right 'till the end.
-Kev.
